The Project Management Institute (PMI) defines a project as a “temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service.” Projects are undertaken at all levels of an organization. They may involve a single person or many thousands. In this workshop, discuss project management tools and techniques, as well as identify the characteristics of a project and detail the main project management processes. Examine how project management principles may be applied to the integration of IT and communications technology. Utilizing project management principles can help keep technology buildout efforts on time and on budget. Finally, walk through the construction of a project plan, applying the tools and techniques that have been covered.
