Can You Afford to Just Keep Your Legacy 911 System Running?

  • Wednesday, March 29, 2017: 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM
  • Room: S230
  • Session Number:  W02

Description

Wireless has changed 911 significantly.  Cell phones, smart phones, IP networks – there are limitations to what our current system can manage, and NG911 is still not fully operational in all locations.  FirstNet may put an even bigger strain on these legacy systems, but cybersecurity is a huge consideration for new IP-based systems.  With equipment approaching end of life, lack of experienced technical personnel and the planned switchover to FirstNet and NG911, examine if you can simply keep your legacy system.
