Moving 911 into the New Millennium: NG911 and Video, Multimedia and IoT
- Friday, March 31, 2017: 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM
- Room: S230
- Session Number:
With new technologies such as NG911, PSAPS and dispatchers can receive video and other multimedia files from citizens. However, policies need to be put in place for how these videos and multimedia are received and processed. For example, who gets to see the file – do you want your dispatcher distracted by a 10-minute video of which 30 seconds is valuable? Chain of Evidence rules need to be considered, such as whether the video may distributed beyond the designated recipient in a PSAP. Cybersecurity rules and technology need to be put in place so malware isn’t received by the PSAP. Examine these 21st century considerations in this session.
