Network Capacity and Densification: HetNets, Backhaul and FirstNet
- Tuesday, March 28, 2017: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
- Room: S224
- Session Number:
The approach to network deployment has changed dramatically – there is no longer need to put up 20,000 towers for nationwide coverage. But wireless sites themselves have changed with hetnets, digital antenna systems (DAS) and small cells, so the number of access sites has increased dramatically. Deploying the sites is no longer difficult and expensive; now the issue is backhaul and C-RAN. And what does FirstNet mean to site deployment and tower real estate and how to apps fit into the mix? Antennas, millimeter wave, microwaves, fiber - examine the densification of networks for maximum coverage and capacity both indoors and outdoors.
