ProfileAfter serving 32 years with the City of Akron, Ohio Police Department, Rick retired as the Sergeant supervising and administrating the city’s Safety Forces IT Department, which ran the Police, Fire, EMS, and 911 networks. He was subsequently hired as Akron’s Chief Information Officer, a position held for three years prior to being appointed as Ohio’s Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) Program Director in November, 2015. As the MARCS Program Director, he serves as Ohio’s SWIC, and shares SPOC responsibilities with Ohio’s CIO, Stu Davis. Rick has been actively involved with public safety users and statewide interoperability initiatives through his participation on several MARCS projects and committees. He began serving on FirstNet committees with appointments to various writing teams for the FirstNet Statement of Requirements. His background as a local officer, IT tech, and C-level administrator brings a unique blend of experience and skills.
