ProfileErnie Blair has managed Alabama’s largest 9-1-1 Center for over 19 years, and led the promotion, design, construction, operation and governance of an interoperable P25 radio system supporting all public safety agencies in Madison County, Alabama. Partnerships with neighboring jurisdictions and other Alabama P25 core owners have resulted in a growing “system of local systems” currently providing P25 interoperability for over half of the state. Mr. Blair serves on the State of Alabama First Responder Wireless Commission, is VP of the Region 1 700 MHz Planning Committee, past chair of the State of Alabama 9-1-1 Board, past president of the Alabama Chapter of NENA, and is fellow, director, and membership chair of the Radio Club of America. He holds every FCC license requiring an exam. His certifications include DHS COM-L, COM-T, & IMT, NENA ENP, APCO Radio Technician, ETA’s CETsr and Motorola’s R-56 Communications Installation. A Lt. Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, he has received numerous awards/recognitions for leadership and communications. Prior to joining 9-1-1, he was employed in the aerospace industry and founded several businesses. He is actively involved in the amateur radio community. Mr. Blair received a BSEE and an MBA from the University of Alabama.
