What Do Smart Cities Mean to You?

  • Tuesday, 03/06/2018: 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Room: N220C
  • Session Number:  T247

Description

The term “smart cities” has become a buzzword, but what exactly does it mean? It’s so much more than automated systems within cities, and has evolved into connected communities and services. Move beyond smart utility meters and discover the exciting advancements in technology that will connect cities, communities and services in ways that were never imagined 20 years ago. Examine the implications for these connections such as coverage concerns, network capacity, cybersecurity and the human element.  In addition, learn about the NIST CPS Smart Cities initiative, called the Global Cities Team Challenge (GCTC), and how it will combine public safety and smart cities as a blueprint for normal day-to-day incident management, emergency response, disaster recovery planning and city resilience.
