This one-day class is designed to bring an extra edge to radio communications officers and technicians who are charged with the responsibility of maintaining and operating portable communications systems during major deployments and disasters operations. Review the requirements to set up temporary communications networks and providing interoperable command communications with other agencies working the same incident. Through a no-nonsense hands-on approach, explore tricks-of-the-trade and lessons learned in getting communications working under the worst conditions in urban or remote locations. Look at how to incorporate from the simplest homemade solutions to the latest high-tech solutions in portable communications and interoperability systems. A hands-on Lab session with participation from different manufacturers' equipment will conclude the afternoon session. Lessons learned from 30 years of disaster response are looked at to help avoid problems that attendees may face in the future. Participants should bring a Laptop with them if available, but is not required.
NOTE: All attendees completing the class receive a RI certificate of attendance and can take an optional COMTEC 3-I exam online for a fee of $25 after passing the exam you will receive a COMTEC 3-I certification from Rescue International.
