Electric, gas and water utilities provide the basic services on which the entire economy relies. Our society can’t function without reliable energy and safe drinking water, and as we move toward more intelligent utility networks, utilities’ reliance on communications networks – and need for the most efficient and reliable solutions – is increasing dramatically. At the same time, utilities build highly robust networks, sometimes with excess capacity, that can be of use to their communities beyond their own needs, and many provide services designed to support other wireless providers.
