Exhibitor Press Tips
We want to help you get the word out about your participation at IWCE 2018. Media relations is a powerful marketing communications tool that can help a company increase awareness and credibility for a product/service. This overview provides a summary of potential media related opportunities.
- New products, services or features
- New research
- Customer success stories
News announcements tell your story in a straight forward fashion. They offer timely, complete and objective information and should provide answers to “Who,” What,” “Where” and “Why.” The news announcements should lead with the most important information at the top. And don't forget to add your IWCE booth number so media attending the event can find you.
Click here to access a template news announcement IWCE created for you to use as a guide when announcing your participation at the event. It provides you with pertinent information about IWCE and provides you with guidance on the information journalists are interested in learning about from your company’s participation at IWCE. Once your news announcement is complete, send it to key media outlets/journalists. Here are some important tips:
- Use product innovations to capture attention of the press
- Have high quality, media-ready photographs of your new product
- Make sure someone in your booth is appointed to speak with press and that everyone in your booth knows of this individual's designation
Get additional coverage for your press releases by submitting it to IWCE's Urgent Communications Editor, Donny Jackson for review. Signed up for IWCE's Exhibits Plus program? Simply login to the exhibitor console and upload your press releases to your online exhibitor listing. Don't forget to add the news announcement to your company website to showcase your news to your customers, prospects and media.
A press kit is an information packet about your company. Press kits include: news announcements, images, background information on the company, background information on your products/services and customer success stories. Here are some helpful tips:
- Include background information about your company
- Include news announcements about new products and/or services
- Insert a company brochure or fact sheet
- Add photographs and company logo sheets
- Include any articles on your company or new products
- Add your booth number to your materials so media contacts know where to find you on-site.
You may drop off hard copies of your company’s press materials at IWCE's Urgent Communications booth. We recommend 10-15 releases/media kits
A media list is a compilation of media outlets (newspapers, magazines, wire services, broadcast media, bloggers, etc.) and the specific journalists that cover your industry who will receive your company’s media materials.
In January 2018, IWCE will release a list of media outlets that are interested in news announcements from IWCE exhibtiors, you should add these contacts to your media list. Email email@example.com to request a copy of the media list.
A pitch letter should be used when contacting news outlets/journalists. The pitch letter should have a news angle of interest to the news outlet. The letter should be short and concise. It is where you “sell” your story idea to the journalist. You must show the journalist what makes your news unique and why they should cover your announcement. In this letter don't forget to offer them a visual image (if you have one), a conversation with a company spokesperson and always include your contact information for an easy reply.
