Since the start of mobile broadband data services, large network service providers have held the spectrum and operated the network. Today, new private LTE options aimed at demanding enterprise networking requirements are beginning to emerge as an alternative to public consumer-focused cellular network services. These sessions will explain what has changed to make private LTE a practical reality for deployment in factories, logistics centers, transportation hubs and across the electric grid. The focus will be on capabilities enabled by 150 MHz of spectrum in the 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band as well as the potential rebanding of 900 MHz SMR spectrum.

Interest in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has exploded across public safety agencies. An eye in the sky helps deliver situational awareness and, in the case of law enforcement activity, contributes additional investigative capabilities. While early drone use leverages flight control mechanisms that depend upon line-of-sight to the drone operation, the FAA has authorized tests of drone operation beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS). These sessions explore how mission-critical LTE and 5G help enable BVLOS flight.
