Rhett Westerman - President and Founder of Deep South Communications, LLC
Mr. Westerman is an experienced RF engineering / telecommunications professional and entrepreneur with significant knowledge and expertise in wireless system design, technical sales, project management and business development. He is integral in day-to-day operations of the company including: sales, design, installation/deployment, testing and maintenance for microwave network communications, broadcast media / cell towers, intelligent transportation systems, civil and other communications infrastructure services; and all to support the increasing consumer demand for data.
Previously, Rhett was Director of Sales for TTI Wireless, a privately-held company that designed and manufactured wireless equipment for use in the enterprise marketplace. This equipment was a forerunner to the 802.11 standard and included licensed microwave. At TTI, Rhett was responsible for eastern region sales, which included half of North America. Earlier in his career, Rhett worked in engineering at Hughes Aircraft Radar Systems, Adams-Russell Microwave Products, and General Dynamics Missile Systems and in each of these roles he held a secret clearance with the United States Department of Defense.
Rhett earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University and is the qualifying person holding the company’s contractors’ licenses in the (23) states and Puerto Rico.
In his tenure at Deep South Communications, Rhett has developed a hybrid safety program built on the techniques, procedures, and methods of the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) which when incorporated with the industry’s NATE safety program for their Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue, make the Deep South Communications’ safety program the most unique in the telecommunications industry.
Rhett is also active on professional committees for SPRAT, NWSA, and TIA.
