ProfileJay M. Jacobsmeyer, P.E. is president and owner of Pericle Communications Company, a consulting engineering firm specializing in wireless communications. He holds BS (magna cum laude) and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and Cornell University, respectively, and has over thirty years experience as a field engineer and researcher. Before co-founding Pericle Communications Company in 1992, Jay served nine years on active duty with the United States Air Force and a brief stint with a defense contractor in Colorado Springs. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2005 at the rank of lieutenant colonel. He regularly advises public safety agencies on land mobile radio issues, including new system design, microwave path design, drive test surveys, 800 MHz rebanding, interference studies, and radio frequency exposure surveys. His technical papers have appeared in IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, and in twelve IEEE conference proceedings. He also authors the engineering column for Urgent Communications magazine. Jay has served as principal investigator on six government research projects, one for the U.S. Navy, two for the U.S. Air Force, and three for the National Science Foundation. A licensed professional engineer in the State of Colorado, Jay is also a senior member of IEEE, a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and an associate member of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO).
